No mention if she has a PA permit - therefore the "charge" of a concealed weapon..........be interesting to see how this pans out with PA-FL recip and all........

She does not have a permit in Florida or Pennsylvania.

A 63 year old woman said Monday she is on her way back to Pennsylvania after her trip to Orlando was ruined. She spent the better part of her trip in jail.

Mary Ann Richardson was arrested for bringing a gun to Disney Sunday. She spoke out Monday after getting out of the Orange County Jail.

"I know how it looks I’m the big bad momma,” Richardson said, "I didn’t have an intention to harm anyone what so ever, not at all."

Richardson says she was in a rush trying to get ready for a family vacation, so rushed she forgot to take a silver revolver out and leave it at home. She was quickly reminded when security officers checking bags at the Magic Kingdom gate found the 32 caliber, scissors, a small knife and what she says is an ‘anthrax style mask.’

"Oh my god,” Richardson exclaimed. “I must look like a terrorist!"

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said they just can't take any chances. Since 9/11 there is a no tolerance policy when it comes to bringing weapons to any Central Florida Theme Park.

Richardson says she agrees with the policy and commended Disney employees for finding it. She doesn't blame the park, she blames herself.

"I need to apologize to everyone for being such a stupid person,” Richardson said.

Richardson is charged with carrying a concealed weapon. She does not have a permit in Florida or her home state of Pennsylvania.

Disney has banned her from any of their properties

And now she never will, and she would be in far less trouble had she gotten a PA permit before she started packing.

Then again, if permits weren't necessary (and they are really not required if we followed the 2A to the letter) as long as she is not a disqualified person from owning, she should have been ok.

She shouldn't have needed one in the first place.

that's for sure.....I wish those people wouldn't have traded away my rights for false security

She must have been carrying concealed without a permit back here in PA, being it was in her purse.....

Disney has a strict policy. Off duty police officers are not even allowed to carry on their property

The following quote is from an email sent by Disney World to a retired police officer when he asked about carrying a gun into the park or having one in the Disney hotel:

    Quote:
Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World? Resort.

It may interest you to know we have a strict policy regarding firearms. Our policy is that no guns are permitted in our theme Parks or Resorts. If a resort guest brings one on property, it must be locked up in the safe deposit boxes at the front desk, not in a room safe. If guests visiting our theme parks bring in firearms, it must either be left in their vehicle, or checked in with security when entering the park. Only on-duty law enforcement officers whose agency has jurisdiction at the Walt Disney World? Resort may carry any weapon.

That makes the policy pretty clear. I am not an expert on Florida law, but I can assure you that anyone has the right to say you cannot carry a weapon on their property- even if it is a theme park. If you insist on doing so, trespass is just about the minimum you can expect to be charged with. (Of course, this usually means that you are told, not that there is a sign somewhere.) I have to assume that the woman didn't have a permit since she was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and not anything specific about a theme park or trespass.
