    Default Vehicle Carry Recommendations

Like many, I can't take a firearm into my place of work--but I can keep it in my vehicle. I'm looking for something that is secure enough that I can ensure it's there when I return, but easy to get into if I need it.

Anyone have any suggestions, or what are you using?

    what kind of vehicle?

I keep one of these safe in my truck. b/c the back seat folds flat, i can hide it so that i can easily get to it from the outside, but if my ride is stolen or broken in won't be found, unless they tried to fold the seat down.

    Should have mentioned that....

    Trailblazer, but occasionally a minivan.

That would work, but I'm hoping for something that I can get into in a hurry so I'm not constantly shifting the pistol around if I'm making a short trip.

Cabelas sells a simple combo lock case that comes with a cable to secure to your car. Its like$ 34 I think.

One of those slide out mini-safes, bolted down to the car. Don't know the name, but it has finger indents to put your hand, hit the combo and slide it out. A friend of mine had one. I don't lock my guns in my car, so I don't have one, but that's the one I would get. He had it mounted in the trunk.

    I recommend one of these:
    http://forum.pafoa.org/general-2/132...fe-review.html

Sturdy, well built lock boxes that will prevent the firearm from being stolen in a smash-and-grab, and certainly slow everyone else down significantly.

I do not recommend the BioBox one that's listed on the Center of Mass site.

This is a couple friends of mine.

^ These are one of the best solutions out there. ^

The only problem with a "In Car" pistol safe is that if you keep your handgun in it while you are "in the car" you absolutely need to be able to open it quickly and possibly without being able to see the locking mechanism (such as at night). If you are going to use it just to store your handgun while you are away from your vehicle (assuming you can't carry it where you are going) then the COM safe works well for the price. If you plan on keeping a pistol in your car and not on you while you are in the car, I'd be very hesitant to put it in a safe.

I'll use a COM safe for in-car storage, the shift it to either on-body or off-body carry in the vehicle while driving. I'll use a Serpa holster on my passenger seat under a sweatshirt or coat for off-body, when I'm driving right to work sometimes.
