FOUND! Where to buy purple loctite? (Philly metro area)
I'm looking to buy some purple loctite in the Philly metro area. I've checked either by phone, in-person, or online the following places with no success:
1) Home Depot
2) Lowes
3) Allied Hobbies
4) ACE Hardware
5) Auto Zone
I could buy it online, but it seems like such a waste of money to spend more to ship it than the product costs. Every place I've checked has red and blue, but I want purple for this particular gun-related (see, it's topical!) use. So, does anyone know any place in the Philly metro area that sells it?
Thanks, in advance!Last edited by FNG19; February 22nd, 2011 at 10:57 AM.

Walmart has a listing for it, but not sold in stores and not in stock.
MSC Industrial Supply lists it in their on line catalog. They ship fast and if you need some other items might be worth looking into.
A dab of RTV Silicon sealant on the threads will probably do what you want as will a dab of nail polish. If you only have 1 or 2 screws to secure, might be worth considering.
The RTV can be thinned as much as you need it with TCE (Red lable Brake-Kleen).

Don, Arrdy, thank you for the suggestions. I will check out both of your ideas tomorrow, too.

Silly question about loctite: What's the difference between Loctite 222 and Loctite 222MS?

MS is MilSpec
http://www.loctite.sg/sea/content_da...18_222MSEN.pdf
You'd probably have to compare the actual datasheets for both to find the difference.
My guess is, that MS == 100x the price over the civilian 222 and that's about it.Rules are written in the stone,

all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.
