Adding 300 more tables like the show at the Expo Center is doing in June would be even better. VF is a great show. Can't wait!

You guys ever come across good deals on firearms at the Valley Forge Gun Show?

Don't usually buy guns at the show. I have, on a couple occasions, moaned when I found something cheaper than what I paid at a local shop. Usually more a matter of getting an itch to buy something, and not wanting to wait another month or two for a show. When I go, it's usually to buy powder and/or primers, and to kill a couple or hours browsing, surrounded by guns and ammo and other assorted goodies.

Sometimes there's some pretty good deals on used guns and surplus arms.



I thought it was odd when I didn't see a listing in the Gun Shows section of the NRA magazines for a VF show on St. Patrick's Day weekend. Don't think I remember there ever being a show in April. This isn't an April Fool's Day joke, is it?

I bought a hard chrome LCP there for $289 back in September which I considered a decent deal as they were going for about $25 more online at the time. Not a deal of a lifetime by any means, but I don't mind saving $25 on something I was looking to buy anyway.

The website for the show has this notice:

"All firearms must be checked and rendered inoperable with a nylon strap at the door."

How exactly do they render them inoperable? Is the slide locked open? I wanted to look for a holster and was expecting to be able to slide the gun into it to check the fit.

They run a ziptie through the barrel and out the ejector port, so the slide is not locked back. But when they did mine in December the way the zip tie was put on made it slightly more difficult to try holsters.
