Default Re: Best .357 revolver on a budget?

When I bought my 686 for $250 I also bought a PT99 that came with a shoulder holster, three mags and a black Pachmayr set of grips for $250.

All three mags held 15 rounds and they were just getting ready to limit mags to 10 rounds. I look back on it and the S&W is so much nicer. But, back in the day I was pretty excited to get a 9mm that held 15 rounds.

How times change, I now carry a .40 that only holds 7.
These are the times that try men's souls: The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Thomas Paine 1776

This thread made me realize I have too few revolvers and too many long guns.

My all time favorite 357s are S&W K frames...That would be model 13,64,19,66 and a few other models I can't remember......My second fovorite is the Ruger Six series...Security six, service six..

I bought my dad a Taurus 66 over 10 years ago and he loves it...Took a nice buck with it a couple years back..

456 - Back in the day almost all my handguns were revolvers (the standard) Mostly 357 3 Colts, 2 Rugers 1 was the Super black hawk, 3 357 Dan Wessons, a Smith 66 and 2 Taurus. 1 Colt Commander, 1 92sf and Ruger Mk II thin barrel.

Now days I only have 2 revolvers a Colt King cobra and 686 the other 17 handguns are various semi autos 3 Glock's 19, 23, 21sf, 3 1911s and 6 Beretta's 92sf, 3 96s,Cougars and Px4, 1 EAA79, 24/7, Keltec Pt11 & a Bull Barrel target sight Ruger MkIII. Wish I would have kept a couple of more revolvers but hard times cause hard decisions.

    Default Best .357 revolver on a budget? Don't rule out a Taurus 66 ...

I bought one of these eight years or so ago from Cabelas for about the same price Bud's is charging now.

It's a great gun. I've put well over a thousand rounds of .357 goodness through this gun and it still looks and shoots like it's new. It certainly has not rattled apart. At least not up to this point.

The fit and finish is decent and the single action trigger is crisp and light. I would definitely buy this gun again. Worth consideration.

That is really nice looking and it's a great price. I don't shoot .357 often so an inexpensive Taurus may just work out well.

Just picked up my new 605 today (don't let my rushed, crapatcular photograph turn you off to it, though )!

Got a couple speedloaders and a pocket holster to go with it!
