Default Best 1911 without MIM parts under $3000 ?

May pick up another CC 1911, or 9mm

I am headed to Pittsburgh tomorrow for a meeting, may have time to stop by a few gun shops and check out some pistols.
In my rural area I only have this option with Kimber, Glock, Springfield and H&K.

I would like to take advantage of the trip and finally get to check out a colt, wilson combat and if possible a nighthawk custom if there are any dealers in my route.

I am still loving my Kimbers, but have nothing to compare them too, and would like to at least compare with these upper end all metal 1911's.

Will try and locate some dealers while I am down there once I find out what I find out what some good choices would be.

I put the $3000.00 max in the title because anything above that would be way out of reach, not saying I would spend 3k on a 1911 but think there are several good ones in the $2000-2500 range.

Not sure, really do not know any but will hopefully find a couple dealers between Warren and Pittsburgh that cary Wilson combat or other upper end 1911's

Its just hard to consider a gun you have never held, and driving 3 hours to check them out is not something I prefer to do, if its on my way somewhere would be great.

Big Buck Sports Shop is on the way and listed as a Wilson Combat Dealer.

Your best options in Pitt are Anthony Arms, and Markl's Police Supply. The rest are little hole in the wall shops that most likely have the same as in your area. You may also try Ace in washington county. I've never been there but i hear good things.

I just went to the range with a bunch of friends and brought along my Les Baer Thunder Ranch. My friends couldn't believe the price I paid for it and were saying things along the lines of, "you could trade that in for 3 or 4 of these", "I don't see what the big deal is", etc. Long story short, every single person who shot the Les Baer loved the handling, accuracy, and the build quality. Before we left, my one friend said, "If you trade in that Les Baer, I'll have to take your life". I think that says it all...

If you are gonna dump 3K forget the gun shop. Call Nighthawk or Wilson and have it built for you the way you want it!

I'll third Ace. Even if it's a bit of a detour for you to visit the place, it's worth the effort. They should have a few higher end 1911s to check out.
