Default Help With Trigger Adjustment on Ultra Comp 45

    Hi
Recently purchased a Springfield Ultra Compact in 45acp. Trigger is heavy guessing 6 lbs. According to my information on this 2010 model pistol the trigger is adjustable. I did notice a small hole on the trigger but not sure it is for access to adjustment. Is this something I can do myself? I have adjusted triggers on several of the Hawkin smoke poles I have owned with success. Your input would be greatly appreciated.
I could find no info in the springer booklet or in searches on this and other sites.
    Thx

That hole is for trigger over-travel adjustment - not to adjust trigger weight.

If you have too heavy of a trigger, the sear/hammer engagement and main and sear springs is what needs tweaked. The springs could be changed out by a novice without much worry, but the sear and hammer engagement should only be worked by a skilled person.

Thx Knight. I was afraid it wouldn't be an easy fix. I may just have to get used to it. Or have the necessary replacement and repair done. I greatly appreciate your quick response.

    It's not hard.

Generally, you can set the center leaf of the sear spring to 12 ounces and drop some weight. It only needs about 8 ounces for return so that's decent for reliability.

Dropping the mainspring to 19lbs also helps a lot.

Those two adjustments often get you into the 4lb range.

Beyond that, you need to know what you're doing.
