1911 grip safety malfunction??
So tonight I was playing with my para GI expert 1911. Testing out the safety and grip safety. Making sure everything was still functioning properly. Well, while testing the grip safety, I found the hammer would fall after squeezing the trigger two or three times without depressing the grip. Its a little unnerving to say the least. Is there any easy way to fix this or should I just send it off to para and hope I get it back sometime this year?

Does the grip safety feel loose? You may just need to tweak the leg of the sear spring that the grip safety rests on. Good luck.

I don't have another 1911 near by to compare...but the grip safety seems to have quite a bit of play in it. Rattles like a bitch and moves side to side.

Shouldn't be that loose. Do you know how to detail strip it?

Yep. Detail stripping is no problem. I learned quite a few lessons the first time I did that!

Re: 1911 grip safety malfunction??
Just discovered when I hold the gun at a downward angle, it depresses the grip safety. Seems like the sear spring does need tweaked....

If you hold it downward and it depreses the grip safety it is definately too loose , not enough tension. I would just just change the darn spring, Para do not make these springs they are contracted out but the person who assembled the gun should have caught it.
