Default Range report of my Springfield Range Officer

SO... after ten longs days of snow and work, I finally had a change to take out my new Range Officer. I LOVE IT.

I only put 10 mags through it because I spent most of my time with my new AR. What I did shoot was at 15 yards, and it was pretty accurate. Definitely more accurate than I am. Two-handed, free-standing groups were an average of 3" per mag (7 rounds). The tightest one was 2.79". I did warm up with my gsg-1911 before slinging some .45 ammo downrange though.

I will post pics of the targets tomorrow when I dig out an actual camera. Here are some of the gun, but only with my cell phone.

I've got one as well, and like you, I love it. Reliable right out of the box w/stock mags, and easy for me to shoot accurately. Proof that an outstanding 1911 doesn't have to break the bank. Enjoy it!

Best of luck with your new purchase. Am thinking Springfield has a real winner on their hands with this one.

I paid $725 for mine a few months ago. I've heard that for some reason, lately, they've been hard to come by, and it appears that prices reflect that.

I don't believe they do, but I'm not 100% certain.

In my case, I ran Federal FMJ target ammo through it and Pow'R Ball defensive. No issues with either.

I was having trouble buying mine also from a local dealer. Everyone seemed to think that because they were at the Shot Show, they weren't available yet. I ordered mine through Budsgunshop.com for $732 shipped. add a $10 ffl fee and the total was $742 OTD

If I would have bought it from the ONLY shop that had it in stock, it was $729.99 + 43.80 for tax + $5 PICS fee = ~$780

They do not come with the option of night sites, but you can order them for ~$60 from Harrison (LPA cut for rear). I think he even has adjustable target night sites. I was hesitant to get a gun with target sights on it for occasional carry due to snagging, etc. but I am confident that this will never be an issue. I actually prefer the adjustable sights to the fixed novak combat ones I had on my Loaded model.

As far as ammo, I used WWB 230 grain fmj and Hydro-Shok 230 grain hp ammo without any malfunctions at all.

If you want something similar the PX9109LP has night sights and is a loaded model so you get a loaded coupon. Just about the same price.

Get it local for about the same price.

Actually, I wouldn't say that the Loaded is all that similar. I like both of my "Loaded" models, but I wish they didn't have that freaking two-piece barrel. The Range Officer has the same one-piece match barrel that the Trophy Match does. I also dislike the front cocking serrations on the Loaded guns. I also feel that (when comparing side-by-side) the Range Officer is a noticeably tighter gun. No slop at all... EXCELLENT slide-to-frame fit.

Also, EVERY Range Officer comes with a Loaded coupon.
