I was in the courthouse two weeks ago to purchase a new lifetime dog tatoo permit.

I could have gotten through TSA at an airpot quicker. I did go down to Mitch's office to address this in person, he was not in. I need to return there this week to drop off completed app. and will make another attempt in person.

I too have addressed this before with no response. Working on the road does not help matters.
And if you want to race, name the place and I'll show you where it's at mother f@#$&#!

Please tell us the story. I heard from the right to know officer (was sent to my junk mail folder). She sent the law that i quoted to her and then sent me a pdf that states no firearms will be allowed after july 2, 2007 (law attached) The pdf fails to upload for some reason.

I'm sending this out tomorrow, suggestions comments welcomed.
    Sheriff Mitch Cooper
    423 Allegheny Street
    Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania 16648
    Dear Sheriff Mitch Cooper:
It has been alleged that you authorized a posting of no handguns outside the Hollidaysburg, PA courthouse that are in not in compliance with PA statute §913. Possession of Firearm or Other Dangerous Weapon in Court Facility (d) Posting of notice.—Notice of the provisions of subsections (a) and (e) shall be posted conspicuously at each public entrance to each courthouse or other building containing a court facility and each court facility, and no person shall be convicted of an offense under subsection (a)(1) with respect to a court facility if the notice was not so posted at each public entrance to the courthouse or other building containing a court facility anti at the court facility unless the person had actual notice of the provisions of subsection (a).
Notice that improper posting and non-compliance with the §913 may be a legitimate defense should one be found to have a firearm in their possession while the court facility is in violation. Certainty this would not be the outcome you are hoping to achieve.

Furthermore, it has been alleged that you have made a statement to the effect that...anyone bringing a firearm into the building will be arrested on the spot, even before passing through the screening station. If this is in-fact true I would highly recommend reviewing §913.

Hollidaysburg, PA courthouse, since July of 2002, has been required to have (e) Facilities for checking firearms or other dangerous weapons. These facilities must be made readily available to the public at no charge.

On Page 2 is a quote of the law that I have referred to in this document and identical to the one your right-to-know officer sent me. I encourage you to check your own references to verify. As such by not allowing firearms to be checked Hollidaysburg, PA is in clear violation of the law, this must be remedied as soon as reasonably possible.

I assure you that if any of these allegations are true that they will be taken seriously. Please consider that your actions or inaction to this matter will be highly scrutinized by the public.

I’m hoping these allegations are false and that you intend to comply/continue to comply with PA law by offering public storage facilities to persons that are legally armed in your courthouse.

I look forward to your response concerning these allegations as they are quite serious in nature,

    Ted John Noga

Are you not posting it cause you'll be speaking with a lawyer or are you not posting it out of fear of retribution from the Sheriff?

I doubt that Brad. At least two of the deputy sheriffs are TSA agents working part-time at the courthouse. Problem is that TSA agents are more confused about the laws than anyone. One TSA agent at Altoona airport thinks it is illegal anytime I carry a pistol into the airport. Heck I'm only going to the restaurant!

Everyone has to go with their own feelings Joe. Not an issue.

I started this thread because of a conversation I had with a courthouse employee over a week ago.

At that time I was told the new sheriff was changing the laws.

    .
I didn't even know Altoona had an airport, even though I was born there and spent a lot of time there when I was young. Had to call my mom and ask her were it is. My dad just sent me these that were taken there.

Those were taken by my grandfather.

Just thought I'd share, carry on.
