    Default Question - Concealed Carry

I just recently applied for my CC permit in Butler County. All my paperworked seemed to check out, I saw them print the permit, and they said "We'll get in touch with your references, and mail your permit to you"

That was about 2 weeks ago. They have not contacted my references and I have not got any mail from them. Is something wrong? Or does this just take time? I was thinking about calling them to ask what the hold up was, but I don't want to appear desperate (I really have no pressing reason to CC).

I was just wondering what kind of time frames other people experienced, and if I should just be more patient?

They're allowed to take up to 45 days, you need to be more patient.

How about we give the new guy a break? lol

Welcome to the forum. Yes, they can take 45 days but it shouldn't take that long. Since this must be your first time, they will get around to calling at least one of your references.

Enjoy the forum, and have 4 new guy green squares on me... lol

Yes it is a LTCF, not a permit. Permit implies permission.

Anyway, I don`t know how Butler Co. is but streaker is right, the sheriff has 45 days days to respond. Myself, I wouldn`t hesitate for a second to call and ask what the hold up is. PA is a "shall issue" state and while on the phone maybe mention they may want to get into the digital age and use PICS. It takes like 5 minutes.

Don`t feel intimidated by these people, they are working for us!

I went in and walked back out 20 mins later with my LTCF. They never even bothered to call my references. However, based on what people on here say, it can easily take the full 45 days. Hopefully, they'll hurry their asses up and get you that LTCF.
I would rather die in a shootout than get assassinated in a "gun free zone"

How does applying for a LTCF not require permission?

permit: to consent to expressly or formally

    license: permission to act.

We are applying for "permission" to transport a specific variety of loaded or unloaded firearms because our state gov doesn’t trust us to do so without papers.

That would not affect your getting a LTCF. (you're not buying at an auction) LOL!
