    Default Mosin Nagant Scope???

    I refuse to spend $400 for a scope for a $120 rifle.

Cab anyone suggest a cheaper scope that works good with the 91/30?

I mounted one of these long eye releif scopes on my mauser just forward of the chamber so i could still load stripper clips in my gun. Pretty decent scope. I have yet to buy some more expensive ammo to sight in better. All i have is old surplus. Havent mounted one on my mosin yet but same idea

The Bushnell Elite series work pretty well. You should be able to pick up a 3 x 9 for under two Benjamins. This, of course, assumes you have a Rock Solid or ATI mount and a bent bolt, or one of the Russkie options available here along with the bent bolt.

Assuming you still have a straight bolt and you have no interest in conversion, then your only option becomes the scout mount in replacement of the rear sight. S&K or Darrel's would be your best option there. You would also need to mount a long eye relief scope or a pistol scope. Cheapo LER scopes are available from NCStar, which has a good warranty (though spotty build quality, as expected from a PROC supplier).
These are the exalted gharāniq, whose intercession is hoped for. LMAO

I've been using a scout concept scope on my M38 for a few years. I find it to be a handy set up for hunting. I use an S&K mount that attaches to the original rear sight base with a $100 Simmons 4x32 Prohunter pistol scope. The scout mount will run you about $80 to $90 depending on the style of rings and PA taxes.

Yes, One of mine has a 55$ set up. It is a NC Star 3-9X32 Scout Scope and a set of NC Star Medium Dovetail Rings with 2 clamp screws on each base.
Take the Rear site out then the site box off by driving out the 2 pins in the side. Heat the inside of the site box with a small torch until you see solder in the hole in the center inside the site base. While it is hot tap the base forward towards the end of barrel. It will slide off a 3/8" Dovetail that is 3 inches long made in the barrel. Clean up and with my set up the scope is 1/4" above the front top barrel guard. It is dead center and very close to barrel for more accurate adjustments. Best of all this can all be reversed someday and gun still all orig.
I have add a picture with the dovetail still silver so it can be seen ok. If wanted I have a picture with the sight box slid forward and one of just the dovetail.

Like the set up. Are the rings steel or aluminum? Is everything holding zero after shooting? I have been looking for the same type of set up and like you do not want to dump a lot of money into a $89 gun. Are you happy with the scope, any regrets?

Yes Tad I am happy with mine. The clamps I believe are steel, have 2 allen screws in each 1 so I get a really good clamp working between the 2. It was cheap to set up, Holds excellent zero, The long eye relief is very good as you have full peripherial vision so fast and easy target accusition.
Some people use a single screw clamp or dont get all the solder off the dovetail and their scope rings will slide on the dovetail after some shots. A good cure for that is I saw a guy have 1 of the clamps over one of the original mount pin holes. He ran a bit the size of the hole thru it and this put a slot in his clamp foot then just drove a long enough pin to go thru the pin hole and into the slot and POOF no more sliding dovetail clamps. I might do this to mine 1 day just as a precaution as never know when it could happen and better safe than sorry. If I do that I will post a pic on here.
