Default Anyone have a Ruger SR9C with Crimson Trace Laser -Bethlehem

I have recently purchased a Ruger SR9C with Crimson Trace Laser and i find it to be difficult to release the slide after firing a full mag and am required to pull back the slide and let go to ram a round into the pistol. I called Ruger tec and they advised me to review the manual which says the slide has to be pulled back to release a round into the chamber. The tec said after firing 300-400 rounds the catch will be much easier to close the slide. if you have this pistol let me know your situation with the slide.

    It's not a slide release, it's a slide stop.

And yes, the more you fire it, the easier it will be to use it as a slide release.

    +1
I have the SR9 and it was the same, but it's not a slide release and using it as such will eventually wear the notch in the slide

I don't have a sr9. However I usually pull the slide back and let it go forward slowly on an empty chamber and simply pull and release to chamber a round.

That's normal with a SR9c. My Walther PPS is the same way.

Thank you for responding. I also learned that the crimson trace has no shut off so its now a dedicated carry pistol. I only have about 150 rounds fired so this weekend I'll add another 150 and see if it gets loose.

Thanks for responding. I pull the slide back and let it go but the SR9C has styrations in the slide that are sharp so pulling back with a bare hand can trim your thumb and fore fingers a bit. Tonight I'm buying shooting gloves to see if it eases the scratches

I didn't know that the SR9 also has this problem. Thanks The laser doesn't have a shut off and its cumbersome to shoot without activating the laser so I am using the PR9C for a dedicated carry pistol and tonight I am purchasing a used SR9 for the range. The SR9C with the laser its great a fulls the center of a profile target using rapid fire. It's zeroed for 50 and i adjusted to 40 for more accuracy in sustained fire

I understand the purpose now. I 've only fired 150 rounds and this weekend I will double the number and see if it loosens a bit. Thanks for your response

    You big girls blouse
I've put over a 1000 rounds through my SR9 since Jan of this year, two things:
The slide and release get easier and....you get thicker skin....real quick
