OC with a shoulder rig
I'm doing some work for a guy using the straps off a cheapo rig with custom leather holster and dbl mag pouch. He likes the straps part alot, despite it being an Uncle Mikes or whatever. It is a horizontal style ( so the gun barrel can be seen from standing behind), but I'm going to see if I can make a vertical by copying the strap rig in leather and playing around.
Anyhow just wondering if anyone OC's regularly with a shoulder rig, and does anyone even notice?
Also anyone up for a "true OC shoulder rig"? Tooled leather sort of thing.LOL, I am a woman...

Re: OC with a shoulder rig
Well, the one and only time I OC'ed was with a shoulder rig. I use a Miami Classic II which is horizontal. I don't understand why people say it's a bad thing, how many incidents ever has a gun gone off on its own especially inside a holster?
Some people get the perception its more of a "cop thing" but it's definitely more comfortable than carrying IWB after you get it adjusted to your body. I also like being able to carry 2 spare mags that balance out the rig. My thought process though is that I'm hoping that cop perception causes people to leave me alone if I ever decide to OC like that again.
Also from what I understand, a horizontal rig is much more natural to draw from.

Re: OC with a shoulder rig
If I could find a vertical shoulder holster that is comfortable I would OC with it all the time. I have a bad back (to many times getting trampled and beat up by bulls). I have one that is a vertical with spring tension holding it in. All you have to do is pull it to the front and its in your hand. However its still not comfortable. If you could make one that is comfortable for my 1911 or xdm 45 I would buy it in a heart beat!

Was thinking the exact same thing a week ago when looking at some civil war leathers. Tooled leather with fancy brass hardware and filigrees on the strap ends. Sort of a BBQ gun holster.
I don't have too much issue with horizontal rigs, no one wants to stand too close looking down the muzzle of a gun, and I hate people who stand close behind me. Win win.

I've worn an uncle mikes and it was uncomfortable. I ended up testing a knife edge on it.
I also tested another that didn't clip to your belt, softest leather and so comfortable to wear.
I would be willing to try another, definately.Millions for defense, Not one cent for tribute!

Re: OC with a shoulder rig
While I do wear a shoulder rig, I would never OC with one. I can only imagine how someone behind me would feel looking down the barrel of a 1911 under my arm. A belt holster is the only way I carry when OCing.

And it's even easy to dance to "Stealer's Wheel" with a shoulder rig on!
Warning: Some graphic violence here.
