I wonder how long it would take for the National Guard to be called in to do "crowd control" when one OCer is being hassled and the police look up to find another thirty, all OCing, peacefully watching the detention.

But there is a point. From GunLaywer in an older thread:

You don't have to wave a gun under someone's nose in order to convey a clear threat, and in fact, people have been appropriately prosecuted for pulling their jacket back to show a holstered firearm in the middle of a confrontation.

My understanding is that this happens in Philly on a daily basis, where thugs expose a gun under circumstances that clearly convey an unspoken threat. Sort of the same way that I can convey "fuck you" by lifting just one finger. We're primarily verbal, but body language says a whole lot as well.

Any act which conveys the message "I have the means to kill you, and I just might do so unless you do what I want" is prosecutable, and then the burden falls on you to prove justification.

Defensive displays look a lot like intimidation. You need to be able to show that you had a need to back off an unprovoked threat. It's a lesser threshold than using deadly force (where you need to show more than potential death or crippling injury or rape or kidnap, you need to prove it was PROBABLE), but a lot of cops and DA's don't think so.

Basically, when these guys uncover and watch, it can't be something that's remotely considered threatening. And there's always the possibility of being cited for "inciting a panic".

There'd be nothing resembling brandishing or even an implied threat of any sort, just common folks walking down the street going about their business in a legal and peaceful manner.

But it's the thought that counts right? Right?...oh yeah, it's the PPD.

The idea would kind of force the issue and create a confusion to them. Just what are they going to do when it dawns on them this is a concerted effort to make a stand against their unlawful activities? How far do they really want to go to make their illegal point? It won't take long at all for them to realize everything is being recorded and we're making a stand against them. Quietly, peacefully, legally.

In my mind I mentally pictured it almost like an old Benny Hill skit. Speed up the video later, add the soundtrack to the PPD running around grabbing guys, and post in a comedy section.

It would be best if everybody else carrying wasn't in a group to attract attention, just scattered around so they never know where to expect the next guy to come from.

What I would love to see is one of our Reps/Senators from out in the west come to Philly and OC for a few days until they get caught.
Can you imagine the headlines and then the back-pedaling/ass kissing that that the PPD would be doing?

That would be beautiful but I'm not sure you could find a rep willing to engage in overt activism like that...
