Swiss Referendum on Firearms
It seems the people of Switzerland have resoundingly rejected a proposal to change the tradition of allowing the citizenry to keep their fully automatic military weapons in their homes. According to what I heard on the BBC, 56% of the populace voted against the anti-gun proposal put up for a referendum. The proposed law would have banned the folks from bringing home their issued "assault weapons", andt he law would have also included other extreme gun control provisions to be enacted. Even though Switzerland has a low rate of gun crime, the anti's big push was that these new measures would help prevent firearm suicides. Bravo to the Swiss for standing up for commons sense and continuing to go with what works.
