PA LEO's - How do They Know Reciprocity?
Im about to apply for my FL non-res CHL.
I dont have a PA LTCF yet.
What Im wondering is, how does the common Pennsylvania LEO know about reciprocity and which CHL's are allowed in PA and which ones are not?
Do they just call into dispatch and someone there looks it up in the computer?
Im sure LEO's cant memorize all the states that PA recognizes.
I would think that in some of these small podunk towns scattered across PA, the local police would have a hard time taking you on your word."One must be a fox to recognize traps, and a lion to frighten wolves” ~ Machiavelli

All it takes is a printout of the PA Attorney General's webpage. All they would have to do is call in to the PSP and they'd have the answer.

Re: PA LEO's - How do They Know Reciprocity?
So, you think officers from a large, non-podunk town will know the laws any better than the podunk LEO's??
To answer your question, a smart officer will print out the reciprocity page and carry it in their bag.
Or, smart firearms instructors will go over reciprocity issues and hand it out during firearms training.
Of course these smart firearms instructors have been know to receive phone calls from other officers during stops with questions about reciprocity.

Most of the dispatchers at the 911 centers have access to stuff like that, so it may only be a radio call away!

Re: PA LEO's - How do They Know Reciprocity?
I moved to Pa in Oct 2003 and have been CC since then. I've never been asked for my LTCF.
Anyway if a cop doesn't know about reciprocity, they can call someone who does. Good to keep the Attorney Generals's page concerning reciprocity on you if it concerns you."Having a gun and thinking you are armed is like having a piano and thinking you are a musician" Col. while they are calling for information they also call for backup and 10 police officers hold you at gun point until they get the call back that you were telling the truth to begin with. theyll leave you with your gun in parts and at least one will be perturbed because you interrupted his lunch and give you a beating.
