    I was at Tanner's the other day checking out the 1911's, they had mostly Kimbers and they looked pretty nice. Why does the 1911 have to have a grip safety anyway, their triggers didn't feel exceptionally light. The only other semi I tried that had a grip safety was an H&K P7, now that's what you call a light trigger!

    On the P7 it is not a safety but a cocker that you squeeze to cock the gun prior to firing.

    The grip safety on the 1911 makes it not possible to shoot the gun with out holding the grip. It is there to help prevent NDs.
