    Question Shooting distances

Could any one direct me to any website that would have statistics on violent crimes and shootings especially on the distances that they occur at?

The only information gather as far as I know pertaining to distances is included in the report by the FBI involving LEO's.

    http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/killed/2006/index.html

The vast majority of LEO involved shootings take place under 21' (about 80%) with roughly 50% taking place within 5'.

Take arms reach an add a foot. Seriously, that close. This is why no one is fully armed without some applicable, practical hand to hand skills in their arsenal.

Thanks to steve for posting the link.

I would think that civilian statistics might be different because of the activities LEO's are engaged in at the time of the documented shootings.

    Hawk,
Did you ever get in an elevator with someone you didn't know?

also, think many (if not most) ccw'er self defense shootings happen as the result of attempted muggings and home invasions. in either case, the distance is going to be quite close.
