Question Any feedback on the ATI - Xtreme Machining AK-47

Hey I'm not real familiar with the different AK models or manufacturers, but I'd like to get one for myself sometime. I'm not looking for an ultra tactical type just yet, and kind of like the ATI by Extreme Machining, and if I understand right they are made here in PA (bonus points for local manufacturing). But I have no idea on the quality and reliability of them. Are they any good? is there any specific defects or flaws I should watch out for if I buy one? Any advice would be appreciated, so thanks in advance.

They were just announced a week ago, maybe 2. It'll be a few more days before they come out, I'm sure... 99-billion other guns they could've built - they come out with a Bulgy mix-master.

    Edit: Check the classifieds...

i saw a couple of ATI AK's at a shop called surplus city guns and they do look nice and much better than some of the century builds i've seen. the ones i saw had milled receivers and were price around 500 bucks which is a pretty good price for a milled receiver AK. i've never shot one so i have no idea how reliable or unreliable they may be.

$500 is crazy low for milled AK. Smells a little fishy.

The ATI - as in GSG5 - folks - are introducing a STAMPED AK; the "SAT47". A Bulgy kit with ER Shaw barrel and PA-made recvr.

I'd like to hear the verdict on their accuracy and craftsmanship. I might want to trade in my Century for something nicer....

I don't know if the one I checked out was milled or stamped (I didn't know the difference) I was at a little gun shop in back country part of New York about a month ago, and they had one of these ATI AK's there for only $500 (new) It felt nice & solid, not to mention it looked pretty cool, why the huge price difference?

Also is there a big advantage to milled vs stamped receivers?

I dont have first hand experience with their AK, but the lowers to my AR build were made by Xtreme Machining, and I couldnt be happier. Absolutely no wobbles or gaps when mated to my YHM uppers. I had to work a bit to get the locking pin out, but that will losen up with use.

Here's an article comparing different manufacturers of AK's, among them Xtreme Machining
