Default need help on eaa Zastava PAP ak

the same gun Zastava PAP thats being sold on buds right now. who has ordered one recently. i need you to tell me if it has a side mounting receiver thing. i already know it comes with a top rail.

i was told the top wasnt as reliable so i will buy the side mount bracket if it compatible.

    Yes, see pics.

    http://www.ak47.net/forums/topic.html?b=4&f=64&t=120162

But contact EAA or Bud's first to be sure is "standard AKM"; Yugo guns sometimes have their own "product improvements" that have deviated from the original Soviet AKM mold. IE; their foregrips and recvr covers as seen in the pics of the PAP and M70's.

Good luck, let us know how your 922+hi-cap efforts go.

bee: hi does this eaa pap come with a side mount like other ak's
    http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/p...ducts_id/60428

You are now speaking with Jake of Sales.

    Jake: Let me check sir

    bee: ok

Jake: No sir it does nt

bee: would you recommend getting a scope to put on the top rail

bee: ive heard the top rail wsnt as reliable as the side mount

Jake: if it is mounted directly to the dust cover it is not as reliable, but its an ak and you have to consider what the goal of the whole platform is.

bee: well i guess i got my main answer. thanks

bee: you have a super wonderful day

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!

now what? is there a way to still do a side mount or some other suggestion to add a scope thats not on the dust cover? if the dust cover is the only option ill take it.

Neither the dust cover or the side mount are particularly good options.

    Try an ultimak.

The Ultimak mount is superb for those that want to mount a microdot sight in the far-forward position and co-witness with the iron sights. It's the best option for that purpose, and has the additional benefit of slightly improving accuracy. You'll want to call the Ultimak people first to make sure it will fit the Zastava, though.

Assuming you want to mount a glass optic, then the side mount is going to be one of two valid options.

Kvar Corp has the mount brackets and the mounting platforms, but you will put down some kapusta for them.

UTG has a less-expensive mount bracket that can be riveted or tapped/screwed onto the side of the receiver. You can then proceed to use their side mount platform. This is the setup I currently have on my MAK-90 and it works far better than our usual armchair strategists would suggest - I have NEVER lost zero, even after removing/replacing the mount and scope.

The other option is this one - http://www.texasweaponsystems.com/ - the dogleg mount.
These are the exalted gharāniq, whose intercession is hoped for. LMAO

Yowza, maybe the PAP in that thread with the pics was an early version? I have not seen any with wood anymore, maybe the black poly's don't have the side mnt(?)

Oh well, good luck in your quest; on paper these look like good values considering they're 100% EU-made Yugos; they are the best stamped guns IMHO.

Apex sells a rail which they claim is an exact copy of the original Yugo M64 rail, so it should be right at home on that Zastava.

alot of these options are more expensive then i thought. ill just see if i can just use the darn top rail thing. i dont even need a scope at the range i shoot at. i just always wanted a magnifying optic and was always interested in them. ill report on its success or failures in the near future. post and vids.

I just finished tweaking my Zastava PAP. It has a Bushnell Trophy red dot, a Mako front grip, Mako tactical multi point sling NCStar light laser combo with pressure switch and the UTG quad rail. I put ten rounds rapid fire in a pie sized group at 120 yds out of the box. Picked this thing up for 359 including scope from Cabellas. It came with three factory polymer mags and I have since purchased two 10 rd single stack WASR mags at a show and coupled them together to ease the pain of the single stack issue. With regard to rails I got the UTG quad rail for 70$ from CTD. Easy to install and now it's holding a perfect zero. I would avoid using the top cover rail. Mine wobbled at first but I put the back end of it in a vice and gave her a good squeeze. It doesn't wobble now but I don't know how reliable it will stay. Going to try to upload some pics soon. Any questions just ask. IMO a great gun especially for the price. Nice and short but a tad on the heavy side. It's got a nice CQB feel and so far I love it.
