Default Comfort food - German style (with German protection)

This is a recipe that I remember my Oma (Grandmother) making when I was a little kid. It's called "Bauern Essen" which translates into Farmers meal.

It's a great stick to your ribs comfort food that you can eat any time of the day - breakfast, lunch, dinner, midnight snack. I've modified the recipe a little over the years and this is how I make it today.

    Ingredients:

    Boiled potatoes
    Ham (lunch meat)
    Bologna
    Cooked salami
    American cheese
    Eggs

Protected by a pair of vintage German Mausers 1910 and a 1914

Over medium heat, melt a half stick of butter in a large frying pan. Slice the boiled potatoes into the pan.

Heat up the potatoes, stirring them often so they do not brown. Cut up the lunch meat and add to the pan.

Mix the lunch meat with the potatoes and heat everything up for approximately 20 minutes stirring occasionally.

Add 3 to 4 eggs depending on how much you are making.

Stir the eggs into the mixture and cook until the eggs are fully cooked. Add a layer of American cheese and cover the pan.

Heat until the cheese melts into the potatoes and meat. Stir well and serve with buttered rye and your favorite German beverage

Protected by a "JK" West German P226

Looks awesome. Showed the wife and she wants to know where her invitation is.

That makes for a quick and inexpensive dish. Gonna have to try that soon.

I can't wait to try this. I love German recipes...good wholesome food.
Quick question tho - how much lunch meat did you put in? It appears from your photo you put in about a pound each. That sound about right?

Wait till Michelle Obama sees that heart attack on a plate! It doesn't matter that she wasn't elected to do anything, just scrape that shit into the garbage an have a carrot instead! Jeez..... P.S. Get rid of the guns too.
