get a S&W airweight or not?

Hey all, possibly stupid question here. I'm wondering if I should pick up a LNIB S&W airweight? It's silly nice, shoots like a dream, and would carry like a champ.

dammit, I'm pretty sure that was me being talked into it right there...


Ok, so what's a good way to carry a 637-2?

I have a 642 that is my "Im running out to the store" piece. It rides really nice in a pocket holster. I say go for it.

There is absolutely a place for a j-frame in every carry line up.

I carry a Bodyguard 38, which is almost exactly the same as the Airweight. I carry mine in an ankle holster (not the quickest access, but good for while I'm driving). Hurts my hand a little bit when I shoot it because of the grip being so small, besides that, a very small, light, and easy to carry gun.

I have a 642 also, and I love it. the factory grips are too small, but I just got a set of Hogue wooden grips (today as a matter of fact) and it makes the feel of the gun SO MUC BETTER.

Why not! They are so simple and easy to carry.(I pocket mine)

A good lightweight .38 special deserves a place in just about anyone's CCW arsenal. The Smith 642, with its fully concealed hammer, makes a perfect pocket gun that still packs reasonable punch. I've carried a couple pocket .380's and still don't 100% trust they will always go bang when needed. I don't have that deep seated worry with a revolver. Used to carry a Taurus 605, but its all stainless construction equals weight and mandates a belt and IWB holster carry.

In a perfect scenario, we could all comfortably conceal a full size .45 ACP pistol or medium to large frame major caliber revolver for self defense. Real world is much different. A snub nosed lightweight revolver in the pocket sure beats a bigger weapon left at home when the going gets hairy.

Airweights are made for the front pocket. I'm pretty sure that was one of the original design parameters.
