Default Would you chose Colt BCG over BCM?

Found someone selling Colt G.I. M16A1 & A2 Complete Bolt Carrier Assembly that have been converted to AR15 use.

Would you chose this over a bcg from BCM? Why or why not?

Exclamation Re: Would you chose Colt BCG over BCM?

By "converted," does that mean, "lightened - as in, the firing pin shroud replaced, metal removed, et.al.?

IF that's the case, I'd say "NO!" Get the BCM (I have two of 'em), and get a better deal!

Looking at that ad, I'd say "NO." It's been modified to a semi-auto carrier; you'd be better served by the actual F/A BCM carrier.

First off, you know it's NEW, not, used, with Lord only knows what kind of round count, metal fatigue, etc.

Secondly, the REAL f/a carrier IS perfectly legal (NOT an illegal part, vis-a-vis BATmen regulations) in your semi-auto.

Third, the f/a carrier is heavier, increasing dwell time when a round is fired, leading to a smoother cycling of the rifle.

    Go with the BCM.

This is all I would need to know to decide.

Where are you finding it for "not much more"? I am spending $130 for the BCM bcg, FZ wants $250.

If I trusted them enough I would call and see if they are milling them inhouse. They may have some unmilled. But I'm not sure I trust them. I might have a friend of mine call them. If they are new, stock Colts then they are defintely worth $100 in unmodified form and I would pick up two.

I actually do know the place (its about 5 miles from my mothers house) and I know someone who works there.

They mill them in-house (Sarco's specializes in reconditioning antique and military firearms). The BCGs were originally on M16A1 and A2s, so not new. Thinking Im saving up for either BCM or DD bcg.....

If you are contemplating purchasing ANYTHING from Sarco, BEWARE!!! They will screw you eventualy. Lying employees, thieving managment and poor service response.

If you can find a full Colt carrier, get it. Just get it elsewhere.
