Default Suggestions for someone wanting to learn the basics?

    Hi there,

I'm very interested in learning to fire, load/unload, and clean a handgun--the basics, essentially. I'm not looking for a membership, or to buy anything, and unfortunately, I don't know anyone who could help me out.

So my question is, of the firing ranges in Berks/Chester, are any particularly friendly to n00bs? Would they find it strange if I drove in one day with this request? Do firing ranges offer instruction? If so, are there specified dates/times for this, or do you generally just show up unannounced?

I really appreciate any help you can offer!

I am not from your area, but usually gun shops and ranges have NRA-certified instructors available for courses. Call them up and ask.

I didn't think to check the NRA... but I guess that's why I'm a n00b. Turns out, they have several "Basic Firearms Training" courses nearby.

    Thank you very much!

Stoney Creek Outfitters in Mt. Penn/Reading does hour long courses for $40. From Morgantown it's about 20-25 minutes away.
