Default Best 1911 for under $1000.00

    Hey guys,

I'm looking to buy a new gun this spring, and I think it may be a 1911. My last 1911 was a Kimber Gold Combat about 6 years ago, but needless to say I'm not willing to spend $1,400 on a handgun. What do you think is the best 1911 for under $1,000 (actually more towards $700-800)

    Thanks in advance

I've been hearing really good things about the Rock Island Arm 1911s. You can get a basic one for $400-500 and spend a few hundred making it your own. Me personally have a soft spot for Remingtons 1911 A1. I keep seeing it in magazines and I really want one at this point. Also been hearing nothing but good about it as well.

I've had an R1 since June and couldn't be happier. IMHO it's just as good and more accurate than my 1978 Colt Series'70.

    50 rds in there.

SA 1911A1 is always hard to beat, especially their customer service.

S&W 1911 is ALSO hard to beat. I own both SA & S&W, but I carry the Smith every day.

Nope, that was an A.N.D (Accidental Neglegent Discharge....a hybrid of both that I invented. It's basically when somebody in the cubicle next to me is finger fucking their 1911, and a part breaks sending a round through my cubicle)

I'll have to check them out. I should also add that this is going to be a range gun, since I carry my G19 daily. If that helps.

Les Baer, Springfield Loaded or TRP, Kimber Desert Warrior, Colt MK IV or 80 series, anything by Wilson Combat, used Nighthawk custom. That's if you plan to shoot it (>1k a year) or carry it, if its a safe queen just buy something that looks good, it'll shoot just fine if it's not a lemon.

Or build it yourself, can be done cheapish and decently.
