Fingerprints in southeastern DELCO
So two weeks ago I had a Utah non-resident concealed carry permit class at my house, my wife and three other forum members attended. We all went to a range after the class and we all passed with flying colors.
I have everything I need to send to Utah except the fingerprint card and I'm not having any luck as to where I can get the card filled out. The PSP won't do it, the Sheriff won't do it (no surprise there, this is Delaware County) my local PD (Upper Darby) won't do it either.
I'm told the only requirement as to who does the prints is that they were trained to do them, so it doesn't necessarily have to be police. They do have to sign the card and provide their employer info. I only have the one card so they must be able to print me clearly the first time.
Any suggestions as to where I can get my prints done?

Re: Fingerprints in southeastern DELCO
Just don't tell them what it's for.
I assume that Utah is using the standard, generic fingerprint card for this?
And even if it does say what it's for on it... the person doing the fingerprinting is most likely going to be a clerk who couldn't care less what it's for.
Just don't tell them that it's for an out of state CCW permit :P

Re: Fingerprints in southeastern DELCO
I have 2 suggestions:
1) About a year ago I needed a set of standard finger print cards completed for a US government security clearance and the Upper Darby police department did it for me. I called ahead and one of the detectives on the second floor did the prints. They use a modern electronic scanner and the print the cards. If I remember correctly they charge a $20 fee and do NOT accept checks. As someone else suggested -- if Utah uses the standard fingerprint form you might just fib a little and tell the police dept that you need the finger print cards for a security clearance.
2) For my FL non-res permit I took a "class" at Double Action Indoor Ranges just to get the required training certificate. One of the partners in the shop did all of our finger print cards. He is a retired LEO. You could call them and ask. They are very nice people and have a nice facility as well.

I to have been thinking about getting a Utah permit just to gain reciprocity in a few additional states. Who did you use as an instructor for the required class?
Good luck.Last edited by shermdo; December 5th, 2007 at 01:25 AM.

Sober,
How about a local security company?
They must have the ability to fingerprint...
Or at least know where to go...

The University of Pa.Police at 4040 Chestnut street used to print people. Law students taking the Bar exam, police job applicants ,etc. The person doing it is a sworn LEO in Pa. However I'm not sure if they only do it for Penn students and employees. They only did it at certain times so I'd call first.

Berks County Sheriff's Office offers fingerprinting if you're up for a drive. Open 24 / 7 and the fee is $15. Fee must be paid during normal business hours
