C'mon, it's "Newsweek"; you were expecting something else from ANY "news" outlet these days?

Does anyone even BUY those magazines anymore?

I don't see why you're so upset. The column name lived up to its description: "The Gaggle: Press, Politics, and Absurdity" (emphasis mine). I'd say the author gave us plenty of absurdity. Besides, what do you expect from a magazine publisher that was sold for a dollar?

Reading that gave me a headache. With "journalism" like that I can understand why it is a failure of a news outlet.

    From the article:
Her belief is wrong: concealed carry has nothing to do with the Second Amendment.
Someone needs to tell that author that they have no right to free speech, or to publish their thoughts for that matter, unless they are in their own home. That is pretty much what is being argued.

Did anyone else notice that, under "similar articles" the top 5 include "Anne Hathaway's breasts are way distracting" and An Evolutionary Biologist Answers Christine O'Donnell's Question About the Missing Monkey-Humans.

Heck ,the author can't even agree with himself. He points out some logic that we can all agree with:

Likewise, it is fair to ask whether gun-control laws are actually effective at controlling crime. As some conservatives have pointed out, while it is true that Loughner might have been able to wreak less damage if he had to stop to reload, he could also simply have brought an extra gun if the type he used was unobtainable. The reality is that no one knows in any given case whether the assault-weapons ban would have saved lives: sometimes it would, sometimes it wouldn't. But the larger point—that restricting weapons may not be the most effective approach—is worth discussing.
    and follows it with

It's ironic that Ensign points to "logic" to advance such an illogical argument. Logic most certainly does not suggest that the city with the most restrictive gun-control measures would be the safest place in the country (although it is funny that Ensign seems to believe in the logic of gun control).
citing that any individual can cross from Virginia to DC without being searched for contraband weapons. Congratulations, sir. You've pointed out that criminals will commit crimes, yet drawn a pro-ban legislation conclusion. Didn't we just say it won't affect criminals?
