Mini 14 Target & aftermarket stocks. Compatable?

I was in my local Gander Mt. store, and came accross a Ruger mini 14 Target model. I kinda fell in love, but not being too familiar with the mini, i have some questions. First off, I saw this model at gander mtn, but, if I decide to buy one, trust me, I will not purchace it from them. It dosen't take a genius to figure out that just about anybody's price will beat Ganders. My main concern is the stock. I like the looks of the laminated thumbhole stock, but i'm not sure i will still feel the same about it if I were to own one myself. So, question # 1 is, will the heavy target barrell fit on any aftermarket mini 14 stock? If anyone knows for sure, please let me know. Also, just for the record. I know some will tell me not to waste time on the mini, but I like it, cause it is different. Plus, for the plinking I.m planning on doing with it, I'd rather not drop $1400.00 or so for the S&W AR15T that I really like. So, if anyone out there could help me, Thanks in advance!
