Default Ross Township Municipal Building Police Department (Pittsburgh)

I have to go to the Ross Township Police Department located in the Municipal Building to pick up some paperwork.

I do not know weather this would possibly fall under a detention or court facility as a prohibited place to carry. FYI I CC.

    Should I?

    1. Cary as usual?
    2. Leave my firearm locked in the car?
    3. Leave my firearm locked at home?

If there is a court facility, they must post notice of that at each public entrance:

    §913(d)
    (d) Posting of notice.--Notice of the provisions of subsections (a) and (e) shall be posted conspicuously at each public entrance to each courthouse or other building containing a court facility and each court facility, and no person shall be convicted of an offense under subsection (a)(1) with respect to a court facility if the notice was not so posted at each public entrance to the courthouse or other building containing a court facility and at the court facility unless the person had actual notice of the provisions of subsection (a).

I've been there many times... there are no prohibition signs, no court facility. The window is right after you walk in the double doors by the flag pole.

I wouldnt carry there, even though they are guilty of preemption (see the big white sign at the entrance across from big lot). They do have a detention facility in the police station and that is illegal as far as I remember. I dont have the time to look up the statute I'm on my way out of the house. Hopefully someone will clarify and you'll log back on and see it.

Isn't "detention facility" defined as a county or state correctional facility?

As you can see, "Court facility" as prohibited in 913 actually includes "prisoner holding cells". I don't know what this is defined as in the law. I've seen references on this forum implying that the holding cells inside many police stations fall under this category. It has also been stated in a few threads that in the case of city buildings that have a separate entrance for the police station, the non-police section is not connected to the "prisoner holding cells" and is therefore not off limits.

IANAL, but based on this I believe the police station itself may or may not be off limits depending on how isolated the "prisoner holding cells" are from the section you'll be in.

Leeam posted the proper term I meant "prisoner holding cell", potato potauto... They have one up there so I know wouldn't walk into that portion of the building packing heat. They have gun bashes in the municipal building, I've never went to one but I'm willing to bet people people CC there regardless of rule #10 due to the preemption:

These rules are posted at all the parks in Ross.

This is found in their parks and recreation policies and procedures:
    Highlights are mine.

THIS DEPARTMENT INSISTS THAT OUR STAFF, VOLUNTEERS AND

I can say, since I work for RTPD, that you will be fine. As long as you have a permit for CCW it's OK. Now, if you enter the doors to the actual working areas, IE squadroom, Traffic room, or Holding Cells, please tell someone you are carrying. We might require you to lock your weapon up in a gun locker while inside. We are a very friendly 2nd Admendment department and contrary to most of the BS people say, most cops are as well.
