    Default Hellertown Sportsman's Association recommendation?

    Hey Guys,

Just moved into Hellertown from the Quakertown area and I about 5 minutes from the Hellertown Sportsman's Assocation. I have memberships at other ranges in the Quakertown area but am contemplating joining the HSA since I am so close. Any input from you guys on here that have been there, or are members would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

They're fine. I prefer EFGA since it's closest to me but HSA has good people running it.

Hellertown has a lot of organized matches that Easton does not. Hellertown shoots a USPSA type practice match on the first Tuesday night. A PPC match on the second Tuesday night. An ICORE match on the third Friday night and an IDPA match on the fourth Tuesday night. When there is a fifth Tuesday there is a match of some kind. Sign in is at 6:30 pm and hammer down at 7m. All matches are in the indoor range.

That is actually really close to me. Does it get very crowded? Most of my shooting is done spring-fall on friday afternoons, and saturday mornings.

I would second that, I've held several of my Firearms Law Workshops there, and every one of the folks I've dealt with has been nothing but nice. Very nice people in charge, and that counts for a lot.

    glocke12,
I really can't say about Friday afternoon or Saturday morning because I seldom get there during those times. As far as during the organized matches there may be anywhere from 5 or 6 shooters to 20 shooters. If you can stop in during one of the matches and look the range over. If you bring your equipment you can join us shooting.

I've been there just about every time of day on each day of the week at some point or other...it's never crowded. The most people I've ever seen on the out-door pistol range, walking up to it, is two. It can easily accommidate many more than that. It's also secluded, and despite the gunfire, very quiet.

However, I have seen some REAL ass-clowns on the ranges. As a buddy and I were finishing up, there was a fella' unloading his range bag/box and talking about how he'd just had 6-8 beers and was about to go shooting. We tried to politely advise against it...but he was dead-set on getting some buzzed trigger time in, so we quickly took off.

Another time, there were a couple of guys shooting, at the same time. No big deal right? Except that one was shooting from the 15yd line and one was shooting from the 25yd line. By and large though, the members are good, decent, intelligent folk. You just get a few blockheads in every batch.
Popichak is probably trolling this for his next story...
