6.5x55 156 GR. with Varget?
I have an Oberndorf 6.5X55 Swedish Mauser that was "sporterized" some time before 1967, it's got a 17" barrel. (that's when my Dad Bought it)
I always loaded 140 gr. bullets for it, with 4350.
I was rooting through my "stash" of bullets and found a box of 156 gr. "pulled" military ball in 6.5mm.
We have an NRA Sporting Rifle shoot coming up, and I thought, why waste good bullets for paper.
I was on Hodgdon's site, and the fastest powder for a 160 gr. looks to be Varget.
I was thinking that the slower the powder, the more waste. and muzzle flash I'd get.
Has anyone ever tried Varget with heavy bullets in 6.5X55?
I can't wait till spring, so I stop trying weird things.....NEVER TRUST A PRIVATE WITH A LOADED WEAPON OR AN OFFICER WITH A MAP

Hodgdon's website lists loads for Varget with a 160 gr Hornady bullet. Give it a look for yourself. Should do OK.
