Where/How To Sell Gun Collection
I just found this site, and I'm looking for any guidance I can get from other members.
I've been collecting guns for many years. Most are modern, and most are in NIB condition. Included are pistols, revolvers, rifles (pump, semi-auto, bolt, lever, etc.).
In all, I'm looking to sell about twenty pieces. and I'm looking for recommendations on how to do that. I'd rather not walk into a gun store and offer to sell the lot, so I've considered either getting a table at the Pennsylvania Gun Collector show here in Pittsburgh or trying to set up an auction.
Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Where/How To Sell Gun Collection
try gunbroker.com - i've sold a few guns on there and gotten much better prices than a gun shop would give me - almost double or triple in some instances. another suggestion would be post a list in the classified section here on the forum.......... you might find some interest for a few of them..........

Re: Where/How To Sell Gun Collection
Thanks for the quick reply -- I'll have a look.
One question, though. Since I don't have a dealer's license, will I have to make an arrangement through a local dealer to transfer or ship them?

anything out of state, yes you need to ship to/from a dealer. in state you need a dealer to ship handguns to and from - rifles can be mailed by a private owner to a private owner if they're in PA.

Re: Where/How To Sell Gun Collection
How about posting them for sale here? If your prices are fair, they will certainly sell on an individual basis.
If you go to a gun store, you will typically get about 20-50% of their actual value.

unless your in a hurry I'd say try gunbroker, and post them here all individually. you'll get alot more money selling them one by one than all to one person.
and dealers usually dont give you the best of prices

Re: Where/How To Sell Gun Collection
I would only sell to a dealer as a last resort. I was selling a Ruger Blackhawk .357 recently and the most any local dealer offered was $150 and I got $275 selling it to a private owner.

Re: Where/How To Sell Gun Collection
yeah, like everyone else said, post them on gunbroker or its pretty easy to post in the classifieds here.
If you sell a handgun you will need to do it at a FFL, have the buyer pay the fee.
If you sell a long gun you dont need anything.

I say post in the classifieds here, first. Then, if you haven't sold them all, post them somewhere like gunbroker.
