Why on earth would you use a bill of sale when you have a FFL involved?

I also find it sad people would want to use a bill of sale for a FTF, when so many people are fighting against gun registration and non-registration registration.

You don't HAVE to have an FFL involved, the form tries to account for all the posibilities. I don't know about you but I'd like to cover my ass. No FFL is going to send you a receipt after a transaction.

    Pretty harsh words

It's a way to cover your ass. Just because we are against any type of registration, doesn't mean that the person you're selling a firearm to has good intentions in mind with that firearm. So, unfortunately, you have to be careful so it doesn't come back to bite you in the ass if something happens with that firearm.

It's also protection for the buyer, so if the firearm was actually stolen, you have proof that you purchased it legally.

    Hey,

Just a PA noob question for FTF transactions:

Pistols need to go through an FFL and do a 4473.

Longguns, simple FTF, no 4473 needed.

    Yeah?

    Kevin "Thanks!"
