Open carry without a LTCF
I know you do not need a LTCF for open carry, but I'm assuming most of you have your LTCF for carrying firearms in vehicles and concealed carry. However, do any of you regularly open carry without having a LTCF? Thanks.

Re: Open carry without a LTCF
I would think 99% of anyone who open carrys also has the LTCF. It's just to risky even though it's legal to not have one. Plus you'd basically have to walk anywhere you wanted to while open carrying without a LTCF.

Re: Open carry without a LTCF
A LTCF is required for open carry in Phila, just in case someone comes across this thread near there.
What the OP is talking about is Sterile Carry. Since you don't need a LTCF to Open Carry (save Phila) and our state does not follow any "Stop and ID" laws, you aren't required to even carry Identification such as your Drivers License for walking around.
I agree, unless you live somewhere that you can walk around without entering a vehicle or concealing... go for it.
That way, ignorant cops can't force you to conceal because they would really be forcing you to commit a felony and when they ask for ID, you can honestly say you don't have any (not that you are required to provide it anyways)Last edited by BimmerJon; January 19th, 2011 at 11:25 AM.

Re: Open carry without a LTCF
I OCed and kept my LTCF with me. Not for concerns of LE questioning me but rather because I just couldn't predict where I might end up and need to cover up.
When the SHTF......be the fan.

Re: Open carry without a LTCF
Risky IMO. Taken in the reverse, you've committed no crime if you're licensed and your normally concealed firearm becomes exposed. However, in the situation you describe, should your firearm become accidently concealed, you're in trouble. Not worth it, I believe, when getting a license is so easy (generally).

Best state to get a carry permit?
I am only 18, so a LTCF for PA isn't an option for me. I have heard of other states offering permits to 18 year olds, does anyone know which states would, and be valid in PA? I heard I could get a Maine carry permit, then apply for a New Hampshire concealed carry permit, both valid in PA.
