    Smile Best 1911 for $1600

Hi, I need some opinions on 1911's. $1600 is what I can spend, what is the best piece for my money? And why?

the real question is what do you want to do with it? Bullseye, target shoot, plink, IDPA, CC, OC, show off? pick that and we can go from there....

BTW I just built 2 1911s today, and have a couple of the Higher end ones you may be talking about

When I can spend that much, I like to ask what I should stay away from in that price range. There are a number of options you have in that range. Les Baer has a model that is right there, as well. With another G-note, you can get a Wilson Combat. Then you would have the best 1911 money can buy. JMHO

$1600 would get you a SA TRP, magwell, and a few rounds of .45. From there, you would have a very good package. JMHO, as well.

Well, for $600 you can get s really sweet 1911 in Stainless Steel from Taurus. Then you could send me the extra grand as a gesture of how much you appreciate my knowledge and expertise!

A Springfield TRP will run you under that, and until you hit near $2k and start looking at Wilson's I think thats the best your going to get.

I wouldn't buy a kimber. Heard too many bad things. The TRP is such a nice gun for the money it's really hard to beat.
