Re: Best AK Variant?
Your best bet right now is an Arsenal SGL.
Chinese guns haven't been imported in a long time. They are good but hard to find and pricey.
As for everything else, depends on who builds them.

The guys above have it right. Arsenal is pretty much the top of the line nowadays, but they are pricey. Expect to pay AR prices for an arsenal AK.
I have a Century GP1975 which is an american assembled Romanian parts kit. I like it, but it lacks a chromed barrel, bayonet lug, and the side scope mount.

Re: Best AK Variant?
Many would say it is far from the best, but I got a Maadi AK and have treated it harshly, feeding it only the cheapest ammo and have had nothing but a positive experience with it. Accurate (for an AK) to boot! Best of luck in your search.

Re: Best AK Variant?
Until I saw your choices, I immediately thought genuine IMI Galil... Have no experience with the US assembled ones, but if the Israeli made one I used to shoot a lot is any measure, I'd be hard pressed to see how any other AK variant could top its performance.
Prior to the ban, Chinese MAK-90's sold well where I was ($200 or so), and folks seemed very pleased with their performance. Dirt cheap Chinese ammo made it all the better for them too.
