Glock 19 Slide on a 27 Frame? Bear With Me...
I really like the idea of a subcompact grip on a 19/23 sized Glock. I don't really want to have the "Why?! A Glock 19 is perfect!!" arguement, so let's just say I prefer the subcompact grip for concealment, and I shoot well with it.
I've considered having the 19 cut down but don't really know if I can bring myself to do it, especially since it would cost some cash and probably ruin the resale value for all but a very small market. So I was thinking today... Can I just slap the slide and barrel of my 19 on my 27 frame and use 26 magazines? I realize the recoil spring assembly would be hanging out, but I'm not too worried about that at the moment. I'm just thinking about testing the concept here.
Anyone have reasons why or why not?Selling off a a sizeable Spyderco collection here

Your Glock 19 slide is about .5 inch to long for the glock 26 frame. A bunch of parts would not fit properly. Your best bet is to sell your Glock 19 or find someone who is willing to trade you a G26 for it.

I think your best bet is to cut it down. Unless you only want a longer barrel on a sub compact then I believe you can buy an aftermarket one.

Lone Wolf Dist. has some conversion parts that may do what you want. Look here: http://www.lonewolfdist.com/Products.aspx?CAT=255
I've bought from them a few times and have no complaints.

The full-sized slides don't work on the subcompact frames:

I'm assuming that the compact slides also won't work on the subcompact frames.

It will get stuck on there. You can get it off but it will be a pain in the arse. Just man up and cut down the grip on your 19!

When done right shortening the grip length on a compact Glock looks awsome IMO.
A G19 chopped for a G26 Mag. Not my gun, just pics I found and liked. The guy that did this did a great job.
These guys shorten grips, reduce frames plus all kinds of stuff.

I think I know who I'm going to for some work on my Glock 19 (Gen 3). I think it'd be badass to have a G19 fitted to use G26 magazines.
dkf, +1 to you for that link!

I like this idea. There are 1911s that follow the same idea, I think the Colt version is called a CCO, where it has a Commander slide and an Officer frame.
