Ruger SR9-C Slide Release

hey all,

i bought a the aforementioned gun about a week ago and have only put about 90 rounds down the tube but i've got this one issue with the weapon.

I can't close the slide with a single hand or two hands. I have to take pressure off the slide to chamber a round.

has anyone seen this and come up with a solution... My ruger Mark3 22/45 works like a charm but this SR9-C is a real (fill in the blank). I love the gun though, first round out of it went right through the center at 7 yrds and 2 more followed.

if i could just close the slide...

My friend bought one for his wife. When he told me about that I lost all interest in owning one or even really checking it out. He told me you can't even slingshot it, you have to pull back on the slide AND press the slide lock down.

If you read around you'll find that it'll loosen up after 200+ rounds.

Some people also file the release a bit . I wouldn't suggest doing that unless you know what you are doing.

I have 3-400 rounds through mine and still can't use the slide stop release, I just pull back on the slide and release.

Maybe someday the mag will loosen up enough to push the slide release down

My SR9 is the same way, but I never have any trouble slingshotting it.

Its not a slide release. Its a slide LOCK. It isn't designed to release the slide to chamber a new round. It is designed to lock the slide back after the last round has been fired. You would then need to slingshot the slide to chamber a new round.

My SR9c is the same way, but I don't mind.

I have since handled the weapon and it will in fact slingshot a new round into the chamber and will not allow you to press the slide lock down to chamber a new round.

I would be ok with that. What I didn't like was his description of needing to push down on the slide lock AND slingshot the slide.

It wears in after 1000 rounds or so. You can polish it if you want.

Don't sling shot it, but use hand over top and it works great. Those serations give you a great positive grip.
