Grenade launcher have to come off?
Bannet can say on I think, the T6 comes with a notch for it.
Have to change gas piston to usa made?
As I said I am confused if anyone could help ,,PLEASE !!

Re: Yugo SKS 59/66 modify questions
You will need a total of 6 US made parts to meet 922R regulations.

Re: Yugo SKS 59/66 modify questions
It depends...because you can only have 10 parts that are original...and 6 US parts to be legal.
T6 stock is 3 US parts
Gas piston 1 part
5rd detach mag 3 US parts
All can be purchased from www.tapco.com

Re: Yugo SKS 59/66 modify questions
its not just a 6 US parts rule....
I answered this last week, guy had a question about US tapco T6 stock, and using the bayo...
heres the post:
Tapco also gives some fairly good 922(r) info on thier site.
you need to replace enough parts on the SKS to have it no longer considered a imported weapon.
this means you need to reduce the foreign parts count to 10 or less.
this aletter applies to the AK, but is the same idea, and same pertinent law.
http://www.cs.cmu.edu/afs/cs/user/wbardwel/public/nfalist/atf_letter27.txt
the SKS has as its replaceable parts
muzzle attachment(flshhider, brake, GL)
barrel
gas piston
gas tube
stock
handguard
gas block
bolt
mag body
baseplate(depends if it has one, ie detachable)
follower
hammer
trigger
disconnector
the parts that appear to be available to replace with US PARTS(this is important), if i look the selection over:
new US made detachable mag of ANY SIZE (3 parts there)
gas tube
gas piston
handguard
T6 stock
I dont know other US made parts that are made, but that should reduce your foreign made parts to the numbers necessary.
once its under the foreign parts limit, the BAYO is definitely ok, and 922(r) doesn't apply.
also, watch state laws, may not be legal at all if in new york or california."Oderint Dum Metuant" - BMFH

Re: Yugo SKS 59/66 modify questions
Don't know if Tc is still interested but Tapco also makes an op rod for the SKS that replaces a foreign part with a US part for 922r compliance. It is the small piston inside the rear sight base that pushes the bolt out of battery upon firing. The long gas piston in the gas tube is what hits the operating rod to do the "out with the old, in with the new" action and makes the SKS self loading or semi-auto. Hope this helps. bikes

Re: Yugo SKS 59/66 modify questions
between the price of stocks and other parts, I choose to keep my SKS as is (it is a fine weapon from the start) and bought an AK that already has the proper amount of parts....
