Sears
What's the point of having a sear since you can't convert any guns into Machine guns anymore?

Re: Sears
Huh? As long as the sear is registered you can drop it in.

Re: Sears
Back in the day bro bought 5 hk sears for $400 a piece. He was then offered to buy 100 at $350 a piece. Today they go for 12,ooo each . He passed on the 100 deal and still has a few of the original 5. We call them the happy switch as you put them in a $1000 hk clone and everybody is happy! I think he'd be happier if he did the 100 deal though!

Re: Sears
Does anyone know how much fully auto m16 sears are going for? Or where to get one (legally of course)?

Re: Sears
There generally are few or no registered "sears" for M16s, there are Registered Drop-In Auto Sears (RDIAS). They were conversion devices, not actual M16 sears. Price is usually around $13K. They can be hard to find. After being transferred around over the decades most have ended up in the hands of serious officianados and tinkerers that want to do crazy things with their receivers and therefore don't want to pay for the registered receivers since they may/will chop them up, bang them around, etc. Cheapest AR FA is the Registered Lightning Link (RLL) conversion device that normally provides full auto only (not select fire, although it can be done) and is not compatible with many caliber conversions or different caliber upper receivers. RLL is $6 to 8K. Converted registered receivers are $8K-$12K, and registered M16s are $12k to $20K. Rare examples cost even more.

Re: Sears
Wow. That's a lot of dough. I think it would still be worth it though. Not only is it a lot of fun to shoot full auto, but I bet their value would only increase.

Re: Sears
as a note, there were other "sears" registered just before the 86 ban, that the ATF later disallowed as a "conversion part" but only if the sear or whatnot required certain mods to the host gun that made the host gun a machine gun itself.
for example, a few AK sears.... there are some, but now they've been permanently married in the AK they are installed in, cuz installing it required drilling the actual factory sear hole in the receiver...so the gun is not a "sear" gun anymore..."Oderint Dum Metuant" - BMFH
