Well, I'm getting there. I have to finish building the curing oven and have to put the blasting cabinet together. Hopefully by the 1st of May I'll be up and running.

Re: CeraKote, DuraCoat, any interest in...
For a while, I was porting and applying ceramic coatings to ported manifolds for some guys. It was sort of a hobby which allowed me to finance my own modding habbits. Here is how I got started and some important lessons learned:
First, please do not short change yourself when it comes to a good respirator. I took the cheap route and it wasn't long before I had a month long fight with coughing. That stuff isn't healthy. Protect your lungs and protect your eyes or none of it is worth it.
For a blasting cabinet, I picked up something like this from Harbor Freight: http://www.harborfreight.com/abrasiv...net-42202.html
Lesson learned was to get something bigger than you think you need. While my manifolds fit, soon people were asking me to coat headers and I was SOL. Also, the cheap cabinet quickly began putting a lot more dust in the air and in my lungs. The window quickly hazed over too.
Next, I learned that I short-changed myself on the air compressor too. While everything worked at first, the air compressor didn't have enough power for some of the heavier jobs. I resorted to outsourcing to a friend who had access to a bead blaster. unfortunately, the parts got blasted with parts that were not degreased. In coating, grease, dirt, oil etc is the enemy to coatings.
I learned that this powder coating oven was great for small parts and manifolds: http://www.harborfreight.com/powder-...ven-46300.html
Again, plan larger than needed but oven larger than this cost a lot. I don't know about Cerakote but I do know you never want to use powder coating in an oven you use for food. I have no complaints on the quality of the Harbor Freight oven. It should be great for handguns but rifles probably won't fit.
Anyway, since it was a related service, I thought I thought I would throw out some of the stuff I ran into in hopes it helps you save money, time or frustration down the road.

Pector55,
Thanks for the tips.
No problems with the respirator, I was brought up and trained in a family of auto body people (my grandfather, my father and 3 uncles were all body and paint people). I have anything from a simple mask to a full mask with forced filtered air.
I got a pretty good blast cabinet from Tractor Supply Co. I won't deal with Harbor Freight for anything anymore due to past problems. My curing oven is actually a converted gun locker so it is big enough to fit rifle and shotgun barrels. I don't have to get the temperature real high.
I do have a big air compressor with two separate filtering systems, one for the air tools and one for auto paint (filters out all oil and other liquids) for use with the blast cabinet. I also have a smaller one for use with the air brush for applying the CeraKote.Ron USAF Ret E-8 FFL01/SOT3 NRA Benefactor Member
