    Default Inexpensive 1911 Options

So does anyone have any experience with the New American Tactical Imports 1911

They don't look bad for the price but sometimes that "too good to be true" thing is fact.

I know there are a lot of great reviews on the RIAs.

My personal opinion is that the latest Philippine guns coming to market are really top notch. Best thing is to compare it side by side with others, you'll be surprised...

I have never heard or read anything about the N.A.T.I., but as long as it holds true to the 1911 design how far off can it be?

I have seen numerous threads on various forums where someone picked up a baseline RIA for under $400 and made it a project. Every one ended up as a really nice looking piece and good shooter with a total investment of $800 or less.

Nothing you couldn't do buying one for $800 up front, except you get to build it yourself, and do it your way, for fun.

I can't recall ever hearing anything bad about either one, although I am hardly an authority. I am still breaking in the only 1911 I've ever owned.
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

that particular 1911, no...however, the citadel is about twice the pistol than the asking price i paid for it. i have heard the same from r.i.a. owners. i don't think you can really go wrong.

I just picked up a RIA tactical for silly cheap ($$$), and I have to say, it's a great entry 1911. the trigger is on the same page as my kimber (before it was worked on) and the fit is great. The grips are pretty cheesy, but those get changed out anyway by most people. I hear nothing but good things, but don't expect the finish and attention to detail like you would find on a $10000 brand X wondergun

All the Philippines 1911's are made on US machines.

All the RIA's I've owned ran 100% out the box and had better triggers/fit/finish than the $$$$$$$ Guys.

Thanks for the input guys. I did actually run into a good blog with postive reviews on this 1911. In in the market for a 1911 and the more I read, the more I feel I need to ask more questions.

Well after reading 5 out of 5 gold stars on the Buds Gunshop site and all the reviews on this blog ---> site here, I decided to go ahead and order one. I'll be sure to post pictures and provide a review when it arrives.

My son is insisting on different grips for it though.

    Whoa

    I like that Thunderbolt.

Not a big fan of 1911's with rails but that one is nice.

I have a Springfield Garand and a Springfield M1 Carbine so I'm leaning toward one of the Springfield 1911's but I need to learn a bit more about them before I buy something.
You CANT go wrong with a Springfield... It doesn't really matter what model you get. There is a reason that you won't see many in the classified section. Everyone who gets one doesn't want to get rid of it And yes, I am a fanboy, biased, whatever you want to call me.

I tried the whole "COLT or a copy phase," but my colt was a total POS. then went with the big KIMBER name. I was ok with it, but fell in love when I shot my first Springfield. I have tried a lot of other brands since then, but the best feeling, most accurate 1911 I have ever gotten my hands on was a Springfield Armory TRP operator with the full length dust cover. Now that was "PERFECTION"
The Beauty of the 2nd Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it.
