    Default Bore Butter

I bought a cleaning pac at Wallmart. Inside was the pads, cleaning solution and a tube of bore butter. Does bore butter do what it says? Or does it create problems? Should I use it or not? I never heard of it.

Bore butter is used to grease up a patch and ball in a muzzle loader.

I use it with my blackpowder rifles. I don't have any issues. Seems to make it easier to clean. Some people swear by it. Some at it. I plan to keep using it.

I don't have any black powder guns. My question was aimed at regular pistols or riffles. I should have been more specific.

I gotcha. I never used it on anything else. Just associate it with BP. Wax for lubricating and water for cleaning. For gunpowder, chlorinated cleaners and oil for lubricant.

Just my simple mind keeping life uncomplicated. Don't know why it wouldn't work though. Use prewaxed bullets for reloading.

Hope we get a better technical answers from those in the know.

Just wanted to let you that I didn't think it was a bad product and intend to keep using it.

It is a product used to lube patches for muzzleloaders. I've never heard of anyone using it on anything else. I does work excellent in the front loaders. I guess you should probably go out and buy one so your new stuff doesn't go to waste!

Use it in your muzzle loader, or give it to someone who has one. For what it is designed, it does the job.

I use it in my BP gun and I also use it in my Mosins because of all the corrosive ammo that's been shot thru them. Not gonna hurt anything to have a light coating of it in the barrel

A tube is cheap and will last you many seasons. It also seasons the bore and makes loading REALLY REALLY easy.
