Re: Reloading 45ACP
shouldn't, just make sure you keep the cases seperate when sorting them and check as you do them.
I'd switch the the ones that use Large Pistol, (the most common .45 acp case) and either scrap or sell the others. Would save you from buying two different kinds of primers and time on your press setupHonesta Mors Turpi Vita Potior ~ 3%

Re: Reloading 45ACP
There are now reloadable 0.45 ACP that use small pistol primers. Cannot remember who makes them but they are out there. So might want to check on any recent range brass that is once-fired. Dave_n

Re: Reloading 45ACP
Recyle the small pistol primer 45 acp brass. (or set it aside.)
Hopefully the majority of that brass you have is large pistol primer.
The 99.9999% majority of all 45ACP brass I have is all large pistol. In another post, another member pointed out that some of the brass he's come across has also been small pistol primer. I don't think it's worth the trouble with so much regular LP 45 acp brass out there.
Thanks,

Re: Reloading 45ACP
Some of the lead-free .45 ACP ammo is being made with a small pistol primer. Personally I believe I would put them aside and search to see if reliable reloading data is available before reloading them.

Re: Reloading 45ACP
I have seen "WIN NT" and "Speer" head stamps on brass cased small boxer primer cases.

Re: Reloading 45ACP
The small primers are used, as noted, in Win SuperClean NT brass for 9mm and .40 cal.
Federal NT brass for the .45ACP uses a small primer.
Reloading it, if you have "normal" cases on hand, is more trouble than it is worth. Function and accuracy, though, are fine.

Re: Reloading 45ACP
I just aquirred a box of CCI brass cased 45ACP. It has small primers.
I wonder if brass/ammo manufacturers started switching to small primers in their 45 loadings due to the lack of large pistol primers post November 2008. Every other "standard" military caliber pistol round uses small pistol primers. 45 is the only exception. If CCI, WIN, and REM only need to crank out 1 size pistol primer, they can streamline their production.
