Just an update, g/f lives in Montgomery county and wants LTCF - so I sent her the police check card link, she didn't know what to do so she brought it to the state police, and they said they will forward it to Norristown and to call back in 2-3 WEEKS.... ok

    2-3 WEEKS... yeah, that's reasonable...

    for a completely unnecessary procedure

I know. I said "you mean 2-3 days" she said "no, 2-3 weeks." Apparently where she lives there's not an actual local PD so she went to the nearest state police office.

I received my actual Lehigh county LTCF in 9 days total.. so 2-3 weeks JUST for the "check card" is a bit ridiculous

It really depends how quick your local department turns it around. Call the sheriff's office in a week and you may be surprised that your paperwork has been recieved.

I actually like montco's system (as much as i can like begging for permission to do something i should just be able to do). Instead of treking out to norristown twice, one to apply and again to pick up your card, you just stop by your local police station. When the sheriff gets the paperwork you drive up to norristown and are in and out in less than 30 minutes.

Renewed mine for the 6th time with only one minor problem. $25 for the license , and because I was in there so long (5th in line) the parking meter ran out , $28 for the parking ticket. Figured getting the spot right in front of the courthouse was too good to be real.
    I don't speak English , I talk American!

When did they charge you $25? It was lowered to $20 earlier this year.

Here's the application...print it, fill it out and take it to the sheriff with $20. Refuse the "check card"...it's not required by statute...

Your GF doesn't know where she lives or how to find her local PD ? Have her call the Montco dispatch non emergency number. Ask them to geo base her address and tell her who covers her municipality.

And create more of a run around for them and still be without a LTCF at the end of the day ?
