Default Can a MI resident purchase in PA?

I know MI has a 'contiguous state' rule for purchasing, others must transfer to FFL. I wasn't sure if PA had one?

I am a MI resident but spend a lot of time in PA (Philly) for work and want to purchase another (couple maybe) firearms. I do have my CPL (LTCF) from MI and it would be a lot easier to purchase here rather than transfer from MI.

    Thanks in advance.

Handguns, no. You could buy here but per federal law they would have to be shipped to an FFL in Michigan and transferred to you there.

Long guns would be OK with Pennsylvania but the transaction would also have to be OK with -- and the gun legal in -- Michigan.

Are you sure the contiguous state provision (for long guns) is Michigan law? Used to be federal law but that was changed.

Thanks for the reply, I was hoping something might have changed (for the better) for purchasing handguns since last I checked.

The contiguous law in MI refers to handguns

Its been federal law since 1968 via the Gun Control Act of '68. It will take a federal change of law.

This isn't possible. It would be against federal law, for example, for you to buy and take possession of a handgun in Ohio. As knight posted, it's been that way for a very long time. "Contiguous states" used to be a requirement for long guns.

Yes, you guys are right. I could have sworn I purchased a handgun in Ohio (among others) but after going through records I didn't. I was mistaken.

    Thanks for the help
