    Default cast boolits in 45ACP

I have recently acquired a 1911 and plan on using it in comp shooting, I am going to be using Roger's Better Bullets from King's and have some choices. I normally load Berry's in 230 ball, but since deciding on Roger's there are 3 I like, 230 RN, 200 SWC and 185 SWC.I'll be using either Titegroup (my standard) or HP38 just got it and have not tried it yet. What do you 45 loaders like and what is the reason for your choice? I like the 185 SWC but have only used 230 ball but this will be in comp so how are they for major or what wouls work best for major?
    Thanks guys

230rn over 4.0 of bullseye. both the thompson and 1911s like the combo.

I agree with what you guys have said but I'm more interested to hear about what everyone thinks about the SWC castings. I will most likely go with the 230gr ball unless someone can really give some incredible info on the SWC. I think I really would like to know about the power factor also and how much of a difference there is in the lighter boolits.

i dont think i ever fed a semi the 200swc.
i normally put them in 45ar brass, with 3.6 of bullseye...they make a nice clean hole in paper or cardboard.

    yea King's makes them
    http://www.kingshooters.com/45-200gr-swc-p-25575.html
but I would go with the 185 first, I put them in there for the power factor idea. I'm pretty much going with 230 ball, but if the 185 could make light recoil with good PF for major it may have an advantage; even if it's slight; over the 230. I'll be picking up some Bullseye also, I used Unique before but it's kind of dirty.

I don't shoot bullseye matches any more but when I did:

25 yard load; 200 gr. lead, 4 grs Bullseye
    50 yard load; 230 FMJ, 6.4 grs. VIHT N340
These loads were used in different pistols.

I've been using 225 TC from missouri for my 45 ACP loadings. I generally load them over universal (I want to say 5.3gr off the top of my head but I would have to check my records... I loaded a bunch a while ago and haven't had to reload 45 for a few weeks).

99% of my .45 Auto ammo is cast; my own or mastercast.net bullets. Mostly 200 LSWC, but also plenty of 185 LSWC, 225 LTC and 230 LRN. Favorite propellants are Bullseye, 700x, Clays, Red Dot, WW231/HP38, Unique and Power Pistol. Over the years, I have found it harder to find a load that won't shoot at least pretty well with what I have mentioned, than will... The beauty of .45 Auto in my experience is it's general unfussy nature, and wide tolerance to many variable that still make very accurate ammo.

Day in and day out, I have found however that it is very hard to beat Bullseye and WW231 for consistent velocity, ease of use, economy, and most importantly very, very good accuracy with cast bullets. Now if you really want to step things up with great accuracy, Unique, AA#5, Power Pistol, and HS-6 really get the lead out; at least my chronograph thinks so.
