Christmas gift for myself - what to buy?
Got about $900 burning a hole through my pocket. Been acquiring and shooting handguns for the past 2 years and have all calibers represented except .380ACP.
My usage is target, plinking, and self/home defense. I'd like to branch out, but I'm torn...
1) BCM or DD 5.56NATO M4 carbine (target/plinking/HD/SHTF).
2) Marlin 70 Papoose 22 rifile (backpacking/camping/plinking), 870 shotgun (clays/HD), .380ACP mousegun (summer pocket carry)
3) Sig or S&W 22 AR with Eotech red dot & magnifier, Gripod, etc. to plink/train and eventually move over to a full AR platform as in #1.
I get more "toys" with #2 or #3, but it will take more willpower and/or Christmas money to save up enough for #1 again.
Looking for your opinions, thanks!Last edited by bripsu; January 1st, 2011 at 05:52 PM.

#3 Sig 522 with extra mags and some type of glass. You can still buy a few thousand rounds of ammo also.

BCM or DD m4
you dont need a .22 AR to train before you move to a 5.56 AR
thousands of people enter the the military each year and shoot a weapon for the first time, usually it being an M4 or M16.
id buy a 10/22 if i wanted a .22 semiTHINK ABOUT IT TWICE, Cause you're slow with your hands

No doubt in my mind: The BCM or DD.
But that's just my opinion."It's hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong."

If you don't have an AR-15, get an AR-15.

Re: Christmas gift for myself - what to buy?
for 900 you can easily find an entry level AR15 from Stag, bushmaster, DPMS, SW and for a couple hundred more you can get a Colt 6920 from CDNN for 1100. i have a NIB SIG 522 for sale so PM or email me if you decide to go with the SIG.

Re: Christmas gift for myself - what to buy?
You can buy an entry level S&W or DPMS AR-15 in 5.56 for less than $900 and then build it the way you want over time. Of course, you'll need to add even your own iron sights, but still a decent price for a nice rifle.
