In what manner are you going to hunt them? Calls? Still hunt overlooking a den tree site? Otherwise you need a good coon hound! ( btw coons are pretty easy to trap)

There are probably bunches of raccoons on the SGL's- nobody goes after them anymore.

Most likely calls, but I also got a free brand new leg hold trap from a friend. It has a 3 inch footplate on it, not sure how much that tells you but maybe you can tell me if I can use that for coon

What does it say on the trap? Example " duke traps #3", or "1.5 fox" or something like that. You wouldn't want to use anything bigger than a 1.5 for a coon unless you have it hooked to a drowner. I do have some used traps I've been wanting to sell. But keep in mind that game lands are used by lots of people, some with dogs, so if you do set for coons do it off the trails a bit by streams. You also need to have traps tagged as per the regulations.
